Holidaze

Today when I looked at my calendar I noticed that it is “Mothering Sunday” in the UK. Okay, Lynne or Miss L or anyone else, is this the same thing as Mothers Day here in the US; a day where you buy your mother a gift, spend time with her, do something special for her, or just thank her for giving birth to you? Different holidays around the globe are so interesting!

*Update*
I just read Lynne’s post for today. It does sound as if Mothering Sunday is the same as Mother’s Day. Cheers!

It certainly is the same! A day of being together - it started when daughters went to earn their living in 'the big house' as servants and were allowed home on this Sunday together with a Simnel cake for their mother. I love that tradition - especially all the marzipan!

I love traditions. It makes me feel good to pass along things to my children that I hope they will one day take charge of.
