White VS. Colored

While watching an episode of House Invaders on BBC America I noticed something in one of the bathrooms that I haven’t seen since childhood here in the US. Can you guess what that might be? Well I will tell you: colored toilet paper. It looked to be a peachy color.

I can remember having pink, blue, and green toilet paper. No matter what color your bathroom was decorated in, one of these colors was sure to match. I had often wondered why colored toilet paper wasn’t sold any longer, but had never actually investigated. I vowed to myself after seeing that pretty peachy paper on the BBC that I was going to get to the bottom of the colored paper mystery.

After much studying it seems that it is as hazardous to our health as asbestos or lead paint. Several websites I visited were written by women who said, “Say no to designer toilet paper”. They stated that using colored paper made them inherit vaginal itching and infections. Once they went back to the pure white paper, all symptoms stopped. Other sites stated that colored paper can irritate hemorrhoids, cause rectal itching or urinary tract infections. Hmm, now that’s a pleasant thought.

My question now is: why is colored paper still apparently being sold in England? Maybe it wasn’t actually peachy paper; it very well could have been that it looked peachy on television, but was really white. At any rate, I’m glad that I finally investigated and found out why the color disappeared.

Perhaps English arses are made of stronger stuff? ;)

Okay, Lynne! Elizabeth! Is GW right?! Do you have better/stronger arses?

Blimey, I've never given the state of my bottom any thought! 'Lizbeth is always talking about tackling her piles :) The children think I've got a rocket up my posterior but coloured loo paper that co-ordinates is a MUST HAVE, surely darlin's!

By the way is this what you call your rear end?

Yes, I am referring to the rear end :) I have to say that I am very surprised that you use colored paper. Will you continue using it even after hearing the horrors it brings?

We just buy Scott tissue. Like sandpaper...or John Wayne...it is "True Grit". But it's cheap and it lasts a long time! The quilted stuff fluffs too many bits of paper dust into the air, I think.

LOL. I think this is so funny. It must be true GW, I like it soft, fluffy and girly pink!

GW: I always thought that Scott was the expensive brand. We buy Angel Soft.

I've been ordered to read this again!! Having posted a comment about my piles on my site and read Lynne's comment, this is an amusing follow on. You know that we Brits are made of stern stuff, mere coloured paper won't put us off our idea of co-ordination. However, the knowledge of the spray every time the loo is flushed has rapidly taugh tme to put the seat down on the loo prior to flushing! Meanwhile - back to the paper piles!
