Opinions Are Like ...
We just finished watching Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. If you are the least bit squeamish, this is not the movie for you. I really don’t enjoy most scary movies, but I wanted to see this one since it is based on Shelley’s novel. I wonder how close this comes to the actual book. No matter; who knows when I would get around to reading it.
As far as the movie went; it was pleasing. I especially enjoyed the music: very eerie and mysterious. Most people probably wouldn’t like it so much, but I enjoy odd musical scores. The story moved slowly at the beginning, but they had to do that in order to show the events that led up to Frankenstein’s creation of the man. I really did feel sorry for this creature. He would have been perfectly alright if not for the quick judgment of others where his looks were concerned. I think this happens in today’s society all the time; not only with looks, but also weight, clothes and other things. We can never please everyone. Someone is always going to be sneering at us behind our backs or thinking that they are better than we are. All we can do is live with what we have and make the most out of it. You know what they say about opinions ….. well, it’s true.

It's great to hear from you, Lynne! Where have you been? It seems that many people are missing in action lately.

I'm going to DL Frankenstein and read it. Then I'll rent that DVD. Thanks for the tip. It's a great story...one of the old versions was so poignant when Frankenstein was accepted by the little blind girl.

That part wasn't even in this version, GW. I thought I had remembered seeing that somewhere though!

I just remembered GW. An old blind man does accept him, but when the family comes home they beat the creature and throw him out.

I downloaded it from University of Virginia's Library last night, that and Stoker's "Dracula".

You'll have to let me know if the books are like the movies or do I need to read them. 99.9% of the time, I like the books better.
