Flavors Galore

I have my sister to thank for something good, but very bad at the same time. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream is what I’m referring to. Kevin and I had never tried it before until a few weeks ago when Jennifer called me raving that I HAD to try Oatmeal Cookie Chunk and another one called Everything But The which has chunks of Heath Bar, White Chocolate chunks, Peaunt Butter Cups, and almonds. We have now tried these flavors plus many, many others. Last night I had a new flavor called Dublin Mudslide. It has Irish Cream Liqueur Ice Cream with Chocolate, Chocolate Cookies, and a Coffee Fudge Swirl. This and the Oatmeal Cookie Chunk are my top two favorite flavors. The only bad thing is that now we're addicted!

I have to commend Ben and Jerry not only on their flavor, but also on their packaging. They put a plastic seal around the top which ensures that no one has tampered with the ice cream inside. Edy's Ice Cream on the other hand, has NOTHING which prevents someone from opening the carton and inserting whatever they like, be it their fingers, pills, or whatever. I know that I have emailed them and so has my aunt in an effort to get them to put some kind of protective plastic over the top of their containers. They answered me by saying that they were still looking into ways of doing this. They answered my aunt by sending her a coupon in the mail. That’s very typical of companies now days; they think that they can just send you a coupon and that will shut you up. Not me. I’ll stick with Ben and Jerry’s. Oh and FYI Edy’s: Blue Bunny has the exact same containers as you do and they DO have plastic coverings. So, it can be done. If you’re trying to save a dime, you’re not. In fact, you’re losing customers who are willing to pay a little more for their own safety.

Sorry about the rant, but that has bothered me for years! So, what is your favorite ice cream? To all of you not in the U.S.: do you eat much ice cream?

We tend not to eat it any more but Haagendaus (not sure of spelling)was my favourite in the UK. They do the most terrific Bailey's flavoured one, mmmmmm! If only!
Concerning packaging; wasn't there something about Tylanol being tampered with some years ago?
By the way have you noticed TT is up and running again?

Yes, I have noticed that. I wanted to leave several comments on his blog, but his "commentor" wants you to sign up with blogger which I don't want to do.
I also noticed that he took my blog off of his list. This is fine, especially if he doesn't enjoy reading me any longer. However, you know that the only reason that I removed him from my list is because he was gone for MONTHS. I honestly thought that he was through with blogging and I like my list up to date.

Haagen Dazs is my favourite (vanilla, toffee creme and strawberry cheesecake being my favourite flavours).

Used to really love Baskin Robbins, but nowhere except cinemas seem to sell it these days which limits my intake somewhat!

It stinks that we even have to be concerned about product tampering. I like Homemade brand from UDF (United Dairy Farmers) and Velvet (made right nearby in Utica, Ohio). Blue Bunny is great, too.

Have you tried those Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches? They're low-fat and low-cal, but verrrry good. Oooooh.

I have never tried those GW. Since you and Howie are on diets, I was wondering if you might be trying any of Ben and Jerry's new varieties. They now have: no sugar added, light, low fat and Carb Karma for those on the low carb diet. If you try any let me know what you think!
