The Longest Day of Play

A few days ago, I talked about the VERB program and how it aims to get kids outside and moving. Today they sponsored “The Longest Day of Play” at our local high school. They had two different blow-up obstacle courses, hula-hoops, relay races, and much more.

Here is Ashley after going through the obstacle course for the first time:

This is a side view of one of the obstacle courses:

Ashley loves to hula with the hoop around her neck!

She had a GREAT time!

I used to love hula hooping in the playground! (A long time ago...)

I never got the hang of the hula around the hips, but I was able to do it with my neck and arms. Do you remember those lemon shake toys? It was a plastic lemon on the end of a piece of rubber; you put a loop around one ankle and swung the lemon around in circles as your walked.

Believe it or not they had a larger size of the same thing you are talking about. It was one where a person held the rope in their hands and swung it around their body in circles while other people gathered around them and jumped over it. Hopefully, you can understand what I am trying to convey :)
