Cracking Up

Both of my kids totally crack me up from time to time. With Andrew, this is normally accomplished through his funny personality. With Ashley, however, it is through her writing.

Yesterday, she brought home a math worksheet that had already been checked by the teacher. I say this because had I checked the paper, this funniness would not have occurred.

The question on the worksheet was:

Suppose someone was trying to estimate how many cubes were in an object. What advice would you give that person?

Her answer:

“Do the best you can and that is the best you can do.”

In red pen her teacher wrote, “This is not how you estimate.”

I agree completely with the teacher, but her answer had me laughing aloud! She is in fourth grade and already trying to fancy-talk her way out of things. Too funny!

in her defense--WHAT a BADLY worded question!
she DID answer what the question asked! and 4th graders can be QUITE literal--she may have simply been being honest!
LOL

An extremely astute answer. My favourite SAT's maths question gave the dimensions for a patio and asked how many green tiles the owners would need. Alex answered: The answer is none because anyone who would decide on GREEEN tiles has NO style at all!!!

Blimey, I can spell GREEN!

My 14 year old, last year was her last year of Junior High. When asked in Home Ec, her favorite class, how do you make a chocolate cake, she responded, ask my father, he is the cook. Children are wonderful to laugh at.

I love it!! I agree that it's a poorly worded question. She perfectly, in my opinion!

"answered it perfectly" I meant to say.
