Freaky

Maybe I am too easily freaked out.

I can be sitting here at the desk, reading blogs and minding my own business when all of a sudden Guido starts barking, well, not really barking, but kind of growling, but not really growling either because he doesn’t growl at anyone. You get my meaning though. He makes this throaty sound. I am home alone. I didn’t hear anything, but if he’s making that noise and looking towards the door, then something must be wrong, right?!

We walk through the house together. No one is there. The locks are still in place. No glass is broken. So, I come back to the desk.

I guess I shouldn’t totally rely on what he barks at though. Yesterday, I drove past someone’s Halloween inflatable display (they have about 10 inflatables) and Guido began barking at those. He knew they were out of place, meaning: not normally there, so he barked.

Speaking of things being out of place, if we lay a box or a purse in an unusual place, Guido will bark at it. He doesn’t deal well with change, but neither do I.

Church, our cat, can totally freak me out too. Normally, he’s relaxing somewhere, be it on the bed or the floor. So, if he’s suddenly looking down the hall very attentively, I worry. What is he looking at? Is someone standing right around the corner?

Last week, he was lying on the bed behind me while I typed away on the computer. All of a sudden, I hear a hiss. I turn around in the chair, and he’s looking up in the air, as if he’s starring at something. I say something to him and he meows.

That rather spooked me because Church never hisses at anything. I have only heard him hiss when another cat has been in the house and he didn’t like it. It was a weird moment.

Maybe I shouldn’t depend on them to be my watch cat and dog, but they make excellent bug and spider radars!

Bob often freaks me out at night when I'm here by myself and Dewey's at work. We'll be sitting in the living room and Bob will perk up and just sit and stare at the front door, with his ears raised up. Sometimes he makes a little throaty growl, and it scares the life out of me. I expect him to perk up when Dewey walks onto the porch and starts to open the door, but when it's not even near the time for him to get off work, it makes me very nervous.

You know that animals and small children can see ghost. Maybe that is Church was looking at??? We have had some funny stuff going on in our house lately, I just chalk it up to my grandmother checking in on us!

You read too many horror novels.

This is the pot calling the kettle black. LOL Howie's away for training all this week, so I am especially attuned to the dogs' behavior. ;)
