Economics
I went to Ashley’s school this morning and volunteered for a few hours.
In Social Studies, they are working on a chapter about economics. To show the kids what this is all about and not just tell them, they are making things to sell. They will learn how to make a product, sell it, and earn money.
Today they made Christmas ornaments by filling clear Christmas balls and then painting them. They also decorated picture frames, made flower ink pens, and dog bone reindeer ornaments. I’m sure there was more, but my brain is tired. It’s been a while since I was around that many 10 year-olds at once!
I know they also plan to make picture frames with magnets on the back (to stick to the fridge) and snow globes – I think these will be made using baby food jars.
Maybe I can get a few pictures of the finished products later.

Remember the Food Network Challenge is on tonight at 9:00 - Gingerbread Champions.

I have been meaning to show this to you:

Mom bought it for Guido months ago. I think it’s sweet.

I just got through watching the Gingerbread Champions show. I thought each contestant did extremely well, but I think Jim should have won. His creation was so detailed and imaginative. If he'd had more time, I'll bet his parade would have been spectacular.
