Some Christmas Favorites

Here are some of my Christmas favorites:

* My favorite Christmas CD (actually it’s on a cassette) is: Christmas Sing With Frank and Bing. There are many CD’s available with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby singing together, but not many include the song, Round & Round the Christmas Tree and I do love that song.

* My favorite Christmas movie is: Christmas Vacation. I tried to choose a favorite quote, but couldn’t pin it down to just one. There are too many to pick from!

* My favorite Christmas song is: Do You Hear What I Hear?

***

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
"Do you see what I see? Do you see what i see?
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
Do you see what I see? Do you see what i see?
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite,
With a tail as big as a kite."

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,
"Do you hear what I hear? Do you hear what I hear?
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
Do you hear what I hear? Do you hear what I hear?
A song, a song high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea,
With a voice as big as the sea."

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king,
"Do you know what I know? Do you know what I know?
In your palace warm, mighty king,
Do you know what I know? Do you know what I know?
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold--
Let us bring him silver and gold,
Let us bring him silver and gold."

Said the king to the people everywhere,
"Listen to what I say! Listen to what I say!
Pray for peace, people, everywhere,
Listen to what I say! Listen to what I say!
A Child, A Child sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light,
He will bring us goodness and light."

***

When the song gets to the part, said the king to the people everywhere, I just want to cry. I think of that mighty king telling his people about the little baby, Jesus. The king is powerful, but he knows who really holds all the power. This is the best I can explain the way I feel.

* My favorite ornament usually changes from one year to another. My parents will get me an ornament for Christmas. I will bring it home, put it up in the attic with the other ornaments, and forget about it. Then, next Christmas I pull it out and it’s all new to me again. I almost always say, “Oh, I forgot they got me this!

This is my favorite ornament this year:

It's a cupcake they bought for me last Christmas at Irish Acres.

* My favorite Christmas book is: Santa's Toy Shop. As a child, I was fascinated with the pretty pictures in this book. Today, I still believe they are just as pretty.

What else is there? If I’ve forgotten any favorites, let me know.

Stacey, I thought about food, but I don’t have a favorite – I love everything! This is how I keep my "healthy" look ;)
