Weekend Things

Saturday morning we rang the bell for The Salvation Army at Wal-Mart. The money donated goes to help a family in need. You can sign up for half hour increments, but for the last two years, we have signed up for an hour. At 32 degrees Saturday morning, it was very cold.

When we were finished ringing the bell, Kevin surprised me by suggesting we go see the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale. We bought a giant tub of buttery popcorn and the biggest coke I have ever seen. There is no way we could have finished that coke during the movie. If we had, we would have been in trouble! The movie was action-packed and I really liked the new Bond.

We got to the theatre before noon, so traffic wasn’t that bad, but by the time we got out it was bumper to bumper. I have never seen traffic that bad in Hamburg not to mention on Man-O-War. I wanted to get far away from there as soon as possible.

We bought Ashley her third coat since the cold set in. So far, we have bought her a blue jean jacket, a nice, dressy coat for church, and now a warm coat to play in and take to school. It’s not as if it could be helped. She had outgrown everything and needed all new. Next year, we’ll go through the same thing I’m sure.

Yesterday afternoon, Kevin made Peanut Butter Fudge and Peanut Butter Roll:

It is creamy and delicious!

Peanut butter roll is my very favorite Christmas candy! I haven't found a recipe yet that tastes like my grandmother's - I think you have to have a special touch for peanut butter roll. Kevin's looks delicious.

I wouldn't mind seeing the new James Bond movie. I'm not a big Bond fan, but every review I've heard on the movie has been a good one.
I think Hamburg is always crazy. I try never to go there unless I really need something or one of the stores is having a huge sale.
That peanut butter roll looks delicious! I've never attempted to make it, but I'd like to try because it's Dewey's favorite candy ever.
I understand about Ashley growing out of her coats. I feel like I'm buying the kids new shoes every time I turn around.

Lori-Lyn,
Did your grandmother cook her's? I know it takes so different if you cook it. Mom uses butter, white Kayro and powerded sugar. I get so sick because it's so sweet!

Boy I hacked that last message.....I can't spell worth a lick. Tastes, powdered, sorry!

I don't know if she cooked it or not - but I don't think so. I think she made hers with cooked potatos, though-I've never tried that.

I am an avid cookbook collector, I can look through some of them to see if there is a recipe for peanut butter roll made with potatoes if you like.
