Chinese Cat

I grew up with my dad cracking jokes about Chinese restaurants cooking cats.

When we would drive past a Chinese restaurant, he never failed to say something about cats being in the food. It grossed my sister and me out. It made me shudder to think of the restaurant’s patrons eating cat. I also could imagine someone putting a cat into a pot of boiling water to cook – not a very nice thought for a youngster to have! We never had Chinese for dinner though, so I was safe.

He was joking of course and he and mom would laugh while my sister and I sat in the backseat grossing out and gagging. My sister, Jennifer gags easily.

I can remember being next to her in a bathroom stall in McAlpins or some place like that. Someone down the line would be moaning and groaning and Jennifer would start gagging – LOUD gagging. Mom and I would laugh so hard tears would spring to our eyes. We were trying to be quiet while laughing, but we thought it was hilarious that the smell was making her sick! I’m laughing as I type this. It was THAT funny.

Anyway back to the cats …

So when Stacey sent me the Chinese Food Song I about died! Click on the link and listen to it for yourself. It’s a riot, but very interesting that other people say the same thing.

By the way, I don’t ever eat Chinese out. If I want chicken and rice, I make my own at home! I am scarred for life!
