After All That We've Been Through

We recently ordered cable Internet so Kevin called our old ISP to cancel the account we had with them.
This is how it went:

Old ISP: Can I ask why you are cancelling the account?

Kevin: We ordered cable Internet service so I no longer need dial-up access.

Old ISP: Why don’t you keep your service as a backup account for your cable modem?

Kevin: I am not interested in keeping it.

Old ISP: Please sir, consider keeping the account

Kevin: No thank you, I really just want to cancel the account. I would like to keep the free email account though.

Old ISP: We have an enhanced email account you can keep to allow for more space. For $7.95…

Kevin: No, I am not interested in that either. I just want to cancel the account.

Old ISP: But sir, consider the enhanced…

Kevin: Please just cancel the account I do not want any additional services.

Old ISP: I understand sir. But for only $4.95 a month I can...

Kevin: (At this point he was almost begging) Will you just cancel the account? How hard is it to just cancel the account?

Old ISP: Ok sir, I will cancel the account. Please hold.

One word: Painful.

Mom had her chest x-ray, but they won’t get results until tomorrow. I haven’t talked to Jennifer today, so I have no idea how those baby rabbits are faring. She started a new job here in Winchester this morning, so I’ll have to find out how that went.

Here is Andrew and myself in the car this afternoon. It was hot (thus the sweat and redness) and we were waiting for Ashley to get out of school:

It’s not the best picture of either of us, but we were having fun ;)

I think that's a cute picture.

Girl, you look so good! I want to see more pics of the weight loss....I get to see Kevin now, so I want to see you so I can be jealous!

I had to laugh over the cancellation conversation. Sometimes they just won't take "no" for an answer will they :)

I think this is the first time I've seen a photo of you. With your name being Tami I've always imagined you with a hairstyle like Tami Wynette. I know...very silly of me. But at least I imagined you with the right hair colour...blond! :D

Elle, I think that is the most I have laughed for a while! Thank you!

And I don't think it's silly, I'm sure all bloggers have a certain image of those who they read about but never see.

Hey we should get together some time for lunch or something. I got some free time :)

It's a good picture of both of you. I would have kept those folks that didn't know what you looked like guessing! I would have thought you looked like Tammy and the Doctor (Sandra Dee).
Please let us know ASAP about the results of her last test. And keep us posted about those wittle wabbits! How is Sydney doing after her horrible experience at the doctors office? I have thought about that little girl so much since Sharon told us the story of what happened. It makes me sick to think of little people being done like that! Ray and I wish they were our little girls. Think Jenny might consider just giving them to us? hahahahah. Love ya.
PS....I'm jealous that you've lost so much weight! But I'm real proud of you. It takes alot of will power and determination! YOU GO GIRL!

I wanted to tell you that I had to call California and get a Better Business Bureau form to get rid of AOL. They made me mad!

Posted by: Becky at August 21, 2007 1:13 PM

AOL is the *worst*, from what I've read. Somewhere I have a recording a guy made when he called them to cancel. It was just unreal what they put him through. Yuck! Now, on the plus side, if you're not really planning on leaving your provider, you can act like you're shopping around and have found a better deal, and ask to speak to a retention specialist. That person may offer you a great deal for several months or longer, just to get you to stay. You have leverage in this competitive market.
