Specialist

I took Ashley to an ear specialist today. One of her tubes is embedded half-way in her ear. If you can imagine a round tube, think of only being able to see the top half of that tube and that is how Ashley’s tube looks. It has been in her ear for so long (5years) that her body thinks it is part of her body. In my words, her body is trying to eat it. That’s what it looks like to me. They did a hearing test and her hearing is just fine which surprised them because that ear looks so bad. The tube in her other ear is fine.

For the next few weeks, I will put drops in her ear twice daily. We will go back to the specialist and see if the skin was just swollen around the tube. She may need to have them removed which will involve sedation.

When we returned home, it was cool and I settled in for some chocolate and a good book filled with short stories.

For Andrew, today is Training Day 9. They studied: Throws, Falls, Leg Sweeps, First Aid III, and Combat Conditioning.

When I say Throws, what I mean is, he has to learn how to take an opponent to the ground to gain the advantage in a fight. Learning this will also help him to learn: leverage, timing, balance, and body position.

From his letters, he seems to be getting used to things. When boot camp is over in January, I plan to interview him. If you have any specific questions for him, let me know and I will write them down. I’m sure it will be very interesting ;)

I'm glad you have been getting letters from Andrew now. I'm sure it helps with him being away.
