Justice Served
Most times when we eat out we have a good experience. I take everything into consideration when I eat out. Everything from the ambiance, music, price, service time, taste and quality of the food are important to me.
Today we ate HERE.
As far the ambiance goes …
When I pulled my chair out to sit down, there was a dirty napkin and set of silverware someone had left. Kevin had the job of removing this because the host was long gone before we had taken our seats.
We also had the pleasure of looking at this filthy switch plate the entire time we ate:
Trust me; the photo does not do it justice.
As I looked at this blackened switch plate and thought of the silverware which had previously occupied my chair, it made me wonder if the cleaning crew had taken a leave of absence.
The music and price were just fine. The server was okay, but he needs to try a lot harder. The server and service was very sluggish.
I ordered Ribs which were served with Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, and a Roll:
There was no butter for the Roll and none was offered. The Baked Beans were lukewarm, not hot. They tasted okay, but we could tell they came straight out of a can. The Cole Slaw was completely flavorless.
And the Ribs ….
If you have ever seen Ribs at ANY restaurant, you will know they don’t look like they do in the above photo. Ribs are not normally flat like a steak. I knew when I saw them that something was up; they had given me an appalling cut. The bones only went half way through the ribs. The remaining half was all gristle. It took me forever to eat that half. I had to take each piece and shred it between my fingers to remove the gristle.
In the photo below: at the top you will see a piece that was too tough to eat. In the middle is the pile of gristle (excluding the pieces I spit out in two different napkins, very ladylike mind you), and on the right-hand side are the half-bones.
The Ribs actually tasted good, but that cut should never have been sent out.
I did not complain because I have heard the horror stories and seen on TV what some restaurants do when a customer complains. Not returning to this restaurant and writing this post will be my justice.

WOW, i am surprised. I have eaten there like 3 times and it was not that bad at all. of course like all restaurants they have had their peak time so maybe it's not so busy like it was so the service and food is lacking. sorry you had to experience this, but thanks for the heads up, i was planning on taking david since he has never been.

We went there on our honeymoon, and several other times. We have always really enjoyed our meal. We didn't get the ribs. We always get the pulled beef (brad) and pulled chicken (me) and we have alwasy loved it. Did you go to the one in hamburg or is there one someplace else. I am surprised. although I know that sometimes everyone has a bad day, even resturants.

Yes, this is the one in Hamburg. This is also the second time we have tried it. The first time we ordered the pulled beef and this time, as you saw, we tried the ribs. I know things happen at all restaurants; that’s a given, however I do believe their food to be extremely mediocre. The dirtiness of the place speaks for itself and that is why I took the photo. I thought that no one would pay any attention unless they were shown. It's nice to see things for yourself.
Deanna, if you have always had positive experiences there, you should take David and let me know what you order and what he thinks. Be sure to look around ;)

some of the best meals I've had have been at places the health department probably had on their black list. That said, it was great food cooked well -- so I could overlook a little. Asian restaurants around here all have a sticky grease film on the tables and chairs, for instance. It's just par for the course.
I'd write to them and tell them about your experience. The owners or corporate office ought to know, at any rate.
